The Sweet Calling: How My Sugaring Passion Became a Purpose

I wanted to share a little bit about me & what inspired me to be on a mission evangelizing the art of Sugaring.

Sugaring has always been calling my name as far back as I can remember! In fact I was still an Esthetician student when I discovered & learned about it. 

At the time I was seeking out the most natural & organic products for my own self care. When I read about Sugaring in our Esthetician student book, I was soooo intrigued by this form of hair removal that entailed making a paste of ONLY sugar, water & lemon juice!

I always wanted to learn it but life happened and I never got the opportunity to work at a spa that offered it. In fact I couldn't really even find content on it, other than one YouTube video demoing how to make your own paste at home. I followed this YT recipe but it never came out consistent & I definitely didn't have any technique back then. Thank you to my girlfriend who was so patient with me in letting me sugar her legs!

Years went by & I eventually gave in to the calling of starting my own solo practice. When this happened, I realized a whole new world opened up to me. On my own, I realized I could bring on any service or treatment I desired. That is when the pursuit of sugar training began!

It was not easy. I don’t know what it was but everyone who was advertising Sugar training in my neck of the woods wasn't getting back to me. I was disappointed once again, believing I was going to have to hang up this desire & dream to learn Sugaring yet again. Then one day Sarah, an esthetician I had just met at the Skin Games a few months prior, posted she was having an in person training. 

11 days later my husband & I were on the 5 hour drive to Ohio! That's right, since no one local was responding to me, I decided I wasn’t going to wait around. And off to Sarah’s I went.

My first few clients, God Bless them for having so much patience with me!!! The technique did not come without first doubting myself. I had to take a few more classes. This time online. I just didn't want to give up on this dream of mine, to offer the most skin friendly form of hair removal for my existing clients & anyone who cannot tolerate hot wax, the more sensitive demanding skin types. 

So I kept practicing, still doubting myself, but still holding the vision of bringing this service to my menu & delivering it in an expert manner. 

I know there are countless clients waiting for Sugar to change how they look at hair removal. And therefore I know there are countless Estheticians wanting to bring on this incredible service to their clients in order to help them in a way waxing has not been able to.
